New Experiences

Nashville Indiana is one of my new favorite places in the world. I visited the town with my friend, Shelby, because we wanted to stop by a little shop that would refill our copic markers for an extremly affordable price. The trip was well worth the hour and a half drive. While we were there we walked around the square and looked into a bunch of little galleries and shops. I felt very inpsired by all of the beautiful pieces; I have noticed that I am attracted to matte glazes right now. I bought a handful for myself a little bit ago, and I am just now getting around to using them. My mugs came out of the bisque kiln and I had the opportunity to glaze and fire them with the matte glazes. The mystery clay that I made is a pink color when it comes out of the bisque kiln, and then a blonde color when it comes out of the cone 6 firing. I learned that the shrinkage is intense; I decided that from now on I should throw larger in order to get the size I need for my mugs and goblets in the end.

Overall, these last few days have been full of a lot of new experiences! I adventured to a new place, and I created pieces to completion with my handmade clay (I will for sure post a picture on here and/or my instagram of them soon.). I want to experiment and make forms similar to the ones shown below. I love seeing other's creations and being able to use elements from their work to influence my own, ya know... in a not "I am completely stealing your concept" kind of way (Because that would be all kinds of mean, and I am not mean.).
